New Years Day in Japan is probably as close as it gets to Thanksgiving in the US. When I woke up with table was already covered in food. The traditional New Years food can be very expensive and the three smaller boxes packed with all kinds of food cost around $100 The two sons, Grandmother, and Uncle came over so it was really like being part of the family. We ate a ton of food for lunch and about 3 or 4 hours later, we had a ton more for dinner. That was pretty much the whole day. Eating a ton of food.
