Work like usual in the afternoon and then when I got home I headed back out to Tamachi to meet up with some friends and we went Bowling and then to a place for Yakitori. It was fun and I usually average around 100 per game.

Work and Christmas in Tokyo

Takehito's lesson in the morning, then work like usual. In the evening a friend and I headed to Shiodome and ate at Silom Soi for dinner. At the Caretta building where the restaurant is, they had a Christmas display up with a ton of blue lights and an ocean theme. The lights were pretty bright and kind hurt my eyes, but it was cool. Later I walked around Tokyo Tower cause I had head about the Christmas display there too, but I thought it was kind weak. Once school finishes I'm sure I'll have pictures and maybe even a video of all the displays around Tokyo.

First Final

Micro and Finance like usual. Hung out at school in the afternoon and prepared for the law final which is a Mock-Trial. It was pretty fun and I think I did ok. After that I headed back home changed and then headed back out to Shibuya to search for new shoes. Living in Tokyo and not owning a car I do a lot more walking than I ever did in the U.S. and because of that I use up shoes much faster than I ever did in the U.S. I went to six or seven different shoe shops in Shibuya and most places didn't even carry my size while others only had one or two bad looking shoes in my size. At least in the states I was always able to order them. I guess I only have 9 more days that I will be working this year, so hopefully my work shoes will hold out till then.

After having no luck I met up with Charles in Tamachi and we went to Shimbashi. There we went to the 300 bar and then to another place near the station but neither of them were very interesting, so we met up with another friend and headed to Roppongi where we went to A971. It was fun as usual and then I took the last train home.

School and work

The last HR class today and the last law class. In the afternoon I went to Shibuya and picked up some donuts from Krispy Kreme so we could all eat during the last law class before the final. I guess they are good, but way to sweet. After school I had work like usual and headed home.

School and work

Microecon and Finance in the morning like usual but since this week is Mock-Trials in law, I didn't have law today since I'm doing mine on Friday. So instead of law some friends and I all went to Andrew's and watched the new episode of Heroes and played DS. After that I went to work and then home.

Work and Bowling

Went to work like always. After work I met up with some friends in Tamachi and we went bowling. After we finished bowling we went to Andrew's house and hung out there for a bit. I missed the last train by one minute so I headed back to Andrew's house and crashed there.

Work and a party

Work from morning till evening like usual. I got a mail from Charles telling me about a birthday party in Aoyama. The party was at this place in Aoyama called Las Chicas which was really cool. The place had a really cool posh atmosphere so it was pretty cool. It was a birthday party for one of Charles's friend and there were mostly foreigners there who were all working in Japan, so it was good for connections and seeing what options are available in Tokyo. From there we went to a club called Odeon. They were playing mostly disco there so it wasn't that fun but there was a Japanese guy there in his late 40's dancing by himself in grey sweatpants with a fanny pack. It was awesome. After that we headed to Muse and that was the night

School and going home

Woke up late so I missed Microecon but made it in time to take the Finance test. That class is so bad. After the test I went home and took a nap to make up for the sleep that I had lost the night before studying for that finance test. In the evening just relaxed at home

Thursday, November 20, 2008

School and work

School like usual. Spent most of the day studying for the finance test tomorrow and then went to work. On the way home I got some sushi from the place near my house cause they sell it for 30% off near the end of the day to clear out their inventory for the day and keep things fresh. It was pretty good. Spent the rest of the night studying for finance. lame.

School and work

School like usual. After lunch my friend Steve and I stopped over at D2, the store next to the school that sells everything and walked around. They are selling the Christmas decorations already, so I guess they are keeping pace with the US. In the evening I had work like usual and headed home.

Work and party

Headed to work and on the way there when I was crossing the street I saw a darker green Skyline GT-R 34 and it sounded pretty sweet. When it passed me I saw the Nür badge and realized that it was 1 of 800 V-Spec II Nür GT-R's ever made. The Nür is sweet cause the engine is upgraded, there are some interior changes including a speedometer that goes up to 300 km/h (186 mph). Pretty sweet!
In the evening I met up with Charles and we headed out to Roppongi for a friends birthday party. First we met up with my friend John at 971 and then we headed to birthday party at Fifty Seven. It was a pretty cool place near 971 and it was pretty busy too. After that Charles and I headed to Feria and that was the night.

School, and taking it easy

School like usual. Spent the afternoon putting the finishing touches on my law paper and finally turned it in complete. Pretty happy to be done with that paper. After, to some friends and I all went to 82 Ale House near school and had some drinks. A couple hours later we headed to Sukiya across the street and got some taco rice before heading home.

Holiday, kind of...

No school today, so I met up with Josh and Ryan and we went to the Immigration office in Shinagawa to get our re-entry permits. From Shinagawa station there is a bus that goes to the immigration office. Once we got there we went to the AM/PM that is in the building and got the stamp that is required to get the permit. The stamp costs $30 which is a bit of a rip off but you can't get it anywhere else. After we got the stamps we headed up to the office, filled out a form and got the stamp in the passport. From there Josh, Ryan, and I all headed to Harajuku. There we went to Subway for lunch and then checked out H&M. H&M is a new store that recently opened in Japan and usually has a long line to get in. It was ok, but it was too crowded to really check the place out. Ryan left for the hospital so Josh and I walked back to the station. I headed home, changed and headed to work. After work I stopped at a Janbo near my house and got some Okonomiyaki.

School and work, Shinjuku

School like usual. After school I had work and since tomorrow is a holiday at school some friends and I all headed out to Shinjuku to check out Super Qunai Bros. which is a game and dining bar. It looked alright on the web page, but in real life it sucked really bad. I would never recommend it to anyone. From there we went to the 8-bit cafe which is way better and then took last train home.

School and work

Headed to school like usual, spent the afternoon working on law and then after class went to work like usual.

School and study

This morning the train was delayed a bit and it was super packed, so the first train I couldn't even fit in. I got in the next train which was packed as well but provided enough room for me to squeeze in. At one point on the ride to school the train leaned toward my side of the car crushing me up against the doors and I heard the doors protesting against the weight of the people in the car. It was pretty crazy.

School was normal and then after law I headed to Andrew's and we studied for the law test tomorrow.

Cold, Rain, and Work

It was cold and rainy today. Although I didn't want to even step foot outside, I forced myself to go to work. Work like usual and then I headed home to work on my law paper. Also I found a pretty good Saturn Emulator, so I've been playing Panzer Dragoon and loving every minute of it.

Work and Sleep?

Headed to work like usual. It was cold and rainy today so I was pretty happy to get to my warm place of work. After work I met up with Charles and we headed to Shiodome where we got some Tai food at Silom Soi for dinner. I headed home and took a nap planning on going out but wound up staying in.

School and some places in Shinjuku

Got up a little earlier than usual to do a little extra study before having the next Microecon test. For lunch I headed to Burger King with some friends and placed a large take out order for some people back at school. After Law I hung out at school and worked on the Finance homework and then some friends and I headed to CoCo Curry for dinner. When we finished dinner, it was still a little early so we headed to Shinjuku and went to the 8-bit Cafe, which is a video game themed cafe/bar. It was pretty cool. They didn't allow pictures inside so I wasn't able to get any cool pictures, but it had a really cool atmosphere. They had video games all over the place and a TV set up with a Famicom and Super Famicom. There were also a couple different systems that I had never heard of. There was a Famicom with a disc drive and cartridge slot, a handheld Famicom system, Neo Geo, and even a Virtual Boy. There was remixed video game music playing that was actually pretty good and it was just a cool place to hang out. We stayed there till the last train and headed home.

School, work, and a new President

School was pretty different today. All the American students were really focused on the election and were constantly updating their PC's and phones for the latest news to see who the next President of the U.S. would be. We found out that it is Obama this afternoon. Hopefully, he'll do a better job than the last guy, but I would not want to be him now, with all the craziness going on in the economy and the Middle East.
In the evening I had work like usual and the election was often a subject that was discussed in the lessons. Many of the Japanese are envious of Americans because they see it as a true "democracy" since we have some say in who is President. While the outdated electoral college keeps it from being a total democracy it did make me feel some pride in my country. Just wish I could have pride in the U.S. dollar too.
Funny thing with Japanese learning English is that the "L's" and "R's" often get mixed up with pronunciation, so when a student came for a lesson and said that "today was a big errection" I knew what he was talking about.

School and work

School and work. There was definitely a different mood at school today as everyone got more excited for the election.

Culture Day

Today was a holiday. Culture Day. Not sure what happens on this day, but I guess it's cultural. Got up and played around on the computer for a bit then headed out to Shinjuku. I went to Ootoya for lunch where I got some deep fried breaded oysters which were pretty good. Then I headed to the Shiatsu message place and got a message which hurt a bit while it was happening but felt great after. After that I went to a store nearby and picked up some more CD-R's since I was out.
When I got home I grabbed dinner from Origin Bento and then worked on school stuff at home. While I was sitting at my desk I heard some kind of crazy noise that sounded like a giant robot tearing through the town and decimating everything in it's path. As it got closer I realized that it was people playing drums for culture day. I headed out to see what it was all about. They had two mobile shrines that they were wheeling down the street and many people had hand drums that they were playing. I took a picture but it was already dark so it didn't come out too well.

Half day of work

For some reason this weekend isn't busy at all. I guess a lot of people are out of town for the long weekend. I only had two lessons before leaving work today. After work I stopped into Uniqlo to get an extra shirt for the colder weather ahead and then headed home. I spent the afternoon doing laundry and working on school stuff.

Work, and sleep.

The lesson today with Takehito was an hour later then usual so I could make up some of my sleep and then I headed to work like usual. Today it wasn't that busy so I wound up going home by 3. It's starting to get cold. No good. I spent most of the day catching up on my sleep that I had lost the day before and messing with emulators on my computer.
