Iron Man

In the afternoon I met up with Andrew and we saw Iron Man. I think it's the best movie that I've seen all year. It was a movie where everything was done perfectly from casting to the story. Can't wait till 2010 for the second one.

Work, meeting up with Eri, and Party!

Headed to Takehito's for his lesson like usual and then to work. When I got home from work I mailed Eri and we met up for a bit. I took the last train to Akasaka where my friend was DJ'ing and met up with a couple friends there. Around three a.m. Josh, Ryan, and I headed to Roppongi, but most of the regular places were dead.

School in the morning and afternoon like usual. In the evening I met up with Eri and we headed out to Yokohama. We walked around and took pictures before taking the last train home.

School, Papers, and study

The Day started off with a lengthy presentation in HR and then I spent the break working on a paper for law until it was time for law and to hand it in. I turned in the paper and then skipped the rest of the class so I could spend more time studying for the finance test tomorrow. Around 5:30 I headed to work, put in my three and a half hours and headed back to school to continue studying for the finance test. When the school closed at 11 I headed home studied a little more and went to bed.

School, Burger King, Updating my address

Headed to school today, had Microecon, and Finance like usual. After law I headed to Burger King with some friends and then I went to the Ward office to change my address on my foreigner registration card. I had to fill out a form giving the new address wait about 10 minutes and then the guy just hand wrote it on the back of my I.D. I guess I just expected something more official. After that I headed back to Tamachi and opened a new account with Mitsui Sumitomo so I’ll be able to pay my rent. The people who own my building only deal with that bank so I had to open an account there. After I got my account open, I headed back to school, printed my law paper and went to law class. When school was over I worked my usual shift and then got some food with Mason.

Day off

Today was a holiday, so I slept in for a while. In the afternoon I met up with Eri for lunch and we went to some Korean restaurant in Meguro. After that I headed to school in hopes of being able to work on my school stuff there but since today is Autumn Equinox day the school was closed and I wound up studying at home which still works, but I find myself more effective if I’m at school with no one I know.

School in the morning like usual. During Finance my friend John mailed my friend Beck who isn’t in the class and told him to get Ramen Jiro take-out. He did and had it back at the school about 15 minutes before class ended. John was like “the noodles are gonna get soggy, I’m gonna leave now” and left class early. It was hilarious. After a good lunch of Ramen, Beck and I headed to the Lawson near Tamachi station cause he left his book there and got it back.

Then we went to the bank where I need to open a new account. My apartment only accepts payments from a certain bank so I need to have an account specific to that bank. The banking system here is really inconvenient and most practices seem quite dated. With the .01% interest and all the ATM fees, I’m amazed that people even use banks. Anyhow I couldn’t open an account cause I had not yet updated my Foreigner Registration Card so I headed to Minato-ku Ward office to get the address updated. I was told that you go to the office that you used to live in, not the one that you will live in to update, but this was incorrect information. I had to get back to school for law class so I headed back to school. After law I headed to Oimachi cause that is where the Shinagawa Ward office is located and wandered around for a bit looking for it. After realizing that I was reading the directions incorrectly I found the office but it was already closed, so I headed to the Burger King that is there and then back home. In the evening I watched “Tropic Thunder” but I didn’t think it was as funny as everyone had told me.

Hanging out with Eri, Jiyugaoka, and Church

Today it was raining so, when Eri came over in the afternoon we figured out what we were going to do and on Eri's suggestion we headed to Jiyugaoka. It's pretty old school and we had lunch there. After Lunch we headed to Tameke-sanno where we met up with Josh and Ryan and went to church. From there We all went to Shibuya and headed to Subway for dinner. It was pouring rain so after dinner we all went home.

Work and seeing Eri

Morning, I headed to Takehito's for his private lesson and then to work like usual. After work Josh and I went to Katsuya for dinner and after that I met up with Eri. She is staying with her Aunt in Meguro so I rode with her to Meguro and then headed home.

School, bad pizza, and handing out flyers

Headed to school like usual. For lunch Josh and Ryan ordered a medium pizza from Dominos but it was a 3-cheese pizza that was layered with bread, cheese, bread, cheese, bread, cheese. It was pretty nasty but we ate it anyhow. In the afternoon I headed over to Tamachi station for about 2 hours where I handed out flyers for GABA. It was pretty fun and actually kinda interesting. I was handing them out with 3 other co-workers so it made it more fun. In the evening I just stayed in and relaxed since I was a little tired and watched a movie.

Thursday

School and work, nothing new except that now that I have Internet I am downloading a lot more movies and games to keep up to date.

Internet!

Today I got Internet! Finally! I had to wait at home from morning till about 1 or 2. When the guy came he took about 5 minutes to hook it up and then I headed to school. In the evening I had work and then I went home.

Human Resources in the morning. After class I headed directly to Ramen Jiro with the pot and got take out. It's so awesome cause they give you enough Ramen to feel 5 to 6 people so when we eat it, usually 5 people it only costs about $2 a person. Took a picture while I was waiting for them to fill the pot of the pigeons that freely walk in and out of the restaurant. In the afternoon I had law like usual, which was followed by work.

Holiday!

Has some kind of holiday today and spent most of the day at home ironing and messing around with stuff on my computer.

Laundry and school stuff

Today I had off all day, so I did some laundry and worked on school stuff. Big Fun.

Work and a new car

In the morning I headed to Takehito's for his lesson and then to work. In the evening I headed out with Josh and Ryan. Mason's friend came to Japan this semester so he got a Silvia S15 this weekend and they sent me some pictures. Hopefully, I'll be out sometime next month to make a sweet video of it.

School, modem, golf, and clubbing

Got up today and headed to Takehito’s for his lesson and then to work till 6:15. When I got home I saw that there was another notice that a package had been delivered but I wasn’t there to receive it so I called the number. When I called they told me that they are delivering the package now so I waited for about 10 minutes and it was delivered. It was the modem for the internet which I should have set up on Wednesday.
After I got the package, I headed out to Naka Meguro, where I met up with people from the golf club and we spent some time at the golf range. When we finished golfing I went with Ryan and Josh to their place so they could drop off their clubs and then we all headed out to Roppongi where we met up with some friends. We went to a couple different spots and then wound up at Muse for the night.

School in the morning. In the afternoon a couple friends and I all headed to Ramen Jiro but the line was too long, so instead of waiting we headed to D2, a store that carries everything next to the school and got a large pot, bowls, and a ladle. We took the pot to the back or Ramen Jiro and got it filled up for take out. It was pretty awesome! In the evening I had work like usual, but it wasn’t as busy as normal. I guess cause Monday is a holiday many people took a vacation.

School and work. Japanese have a ton of words that they love to use where they just repeat the same word twice. One example is "gushya gushya" which is used to describe wet shoes usually then there is a lot of rain. A fun one that I learned today from one of my students is "nori nori" which is means, a fun cool but energetic person. So you can tell someone that they are "nori nori" if they are in a good fun mood or if they are really "into" whatever they are doing.

School!

School like usual, today after Finance we headed to Ramen Jiro and there was absolutely no line. Considering that the line is usually a hour or more wait, we called up everyone we could think of and told them to come. I think about 6 people came and it was good as usual. Then had law in the afternoon and that was the day.

Work

Not much happened today, just worked in the afternoon till evening and then did some laundry when I got home.

Headed to Takehito's this morning. We moved our lesson to Saturday mornings cause it works better for both of us. After that I headed to work and after that I headed home. In the evening I hung out with Josh and Ryan, by chance we I saw one of my friends there with a 4 of her friends and after a couple hours we all headed to Muse, where they called a couple more of their friends. So we looked really cool. It was pretty fun.

School in the morning till the afternoon. After school Mason and I headed to D2 next to school and picked up a couple shelves for my room and then headed back to my place to drop them off before heading back out to Meguro where we met up with Mason's friend, Brady. When we got there we stopped at Wendy's for something to eat and then went to the Uniqlo across the street. I picked up a new shirt and Mason told me about a Silvia that him and Brady are planing to buy. From there we went to Karaoke and did that till close to last train.

Back into the school routine Microecon, Finance, break, and then Law. Worked in the evening and that was the day.
Getting Internet in Japan is a bit of a pain. First you have to call and tell them your info over the phone and then you have to wait for 2-3 weeks for the modem to arrive in the mail. After you receive the modem you have to set an appointment for the guy to come to your house and set it up, so it's kinda of a long process. While Internet here is much faster than in the US ranging from 100mbps to 160mbps it's pretty quick, but also slightly more expensive since almost everyone is using fiber optic lines and the Internet service and the price for the use of the line and the service are separate usually costing around $40 a month. It's amazing how dependent a person can become on the Internet. Epically when you are living in another country and use it for all the news and keeping in touch with your friends, you can feel pretty disconnected when you don't always have access.

Second day of school

Today I had Human Resource in the morning and then had Law in the afternoon. I didn't work today cause it was the first day of my new classes.

Back to school

This morning I was on the train earlier than usual and it was pretty packed. I guess I should either go to school earlier or later. I had Intermediate Microeconomics, which seems ok, then I had Intro to Finance. After Finance I have a four hour break so some friends and I headed to Keio in hopes of having lunch there but it was closed so we went to Mos Burger. When I got back to school I updated the blog and then had the Law class.
After school Andrew, John, and I all headed to Sukiya and then I went over Andrew's where we played some games and got more organized with school
