School and work

Headed to school like usual. Finance in the morning and then study for the accounting test in the afternoon. Ramen Jiro was closed for about a month or so while the owner took a vacation. It recently reopened and there has been a huge line wrapped around the building every day since. After I studied for the finance test until work. After work I headed home, studied finance a little more and when to bed.

School and Clothes dryers?

School like usual. Japan is an interesting place. I think a lot of people have this image of this high tech country where everything is super efficient. In some ways I agree there are a lot of efficiencies in Japan, but it seems that for ever efficiency or comfort that we don't have in the U.S. there are some really big inefficiencies that don't exist at all in the U.S. I mentioned the banking system and the ATM's here in a previous post but today I'm talking about clothes dryers. So interesting, isn't it? Japan, like the U.S. is a 1st world developed country and really has no excuse for having some of the most inefficient dryers in the world. Granted most people don't use dryers here and typically hang their clothes up in their small houses or apartments, but if the dryers here weren't so expensive to operate, would people still hang their clothes to dry? Ok, sure there is the issue of space too, but still. The dryer at my house in the U.S. would dry clothes in about half the time most of the dryers here take and do a better job of preventing wrinkles. The dryer in my building costs $1 for 15 minutes of dry time. Since the dryer is pretty bad it costs me between $4-$6 to fully dry a load of clothes. Ok, sure this could just be my dryer, but it's not. I've used other dryers and often talk about dyers with my friends and they have similar experiences. Even the more expensive ones use more energy and take more time than the ones in the U.S.
I'm going to have to get together with whirlpool and Kenmore to help them design quality dryers for the Japanese market. Looks like I got a good business idea!

School and work

The day started off with a stat test in the morning so it only could get better from there. I guess the rest of the day was normal with work in the evening.

Work

I was pretty tired from yesterday so I slept in till it was time for work. After work I headed back home and studied for the Stat test.

Work and party

Work in the morning till the evening like usual. After work I stopped home, changed, and headed back out. I met up with some friends in Shibuya at a standing bar. After a couple more people arrived we headed to the Hub where we hung out for a while. Then we headed out to a nearby club where we met up with some more friends and hung out there till morning train. Also I tried the McDonald's hotdog which for some reason is a breakfast item and it's not that great.

Holiday

Today is a National Holiday in Japan for the Spring Equinox and I guess so that people have a day off in March. In the afternoon I met up with some friends in Ikebukuro and we went bowling. They had a guy who was polishing and drilling holes in the bowling balls and had some custom balls there to. The best were the Star Wars ones. After I beat everyone in bowling we all headed out to an all-you-can-eat Jewish restaurant where we met up with some more friends and ate way too much food.

School like usual except that tomorrow is a holiday. Some friends and I went to Keio for lunch and parked there was a Chevy Van with 4 massive exhaust pipes sticking out which I found entertaining so I took a picture to share it with the world. I didn't really have anything planed so I went home and went to bed early. I'm so cool.

School and Bowling

Headed to school like usual but with a law test. After school a bunch of friends talked me into going out and we wound up at 82 Ale. For some reason people bought me a lot of drinks and then we all went bowling. I didn't do very well, but still had fun. The best thing about this bowling alley is that when you get a strike a slot machine comes up on the monitor above and if you get all 7's you win cookies. It raises the fun level to 158,000! (ref. typical bowling fun level: 98,000)

School work and sideways hair

Today I had school like usual but I combed my hair sideways. It got a pretty good set or responses. Some people would just laugh, others said it looked good. People at work said I looked like a politician or a playwright, and my students told me it made me look smarter, but I think it's dumb, so this is the last day I'm doing it. Well at least to me, it's funny. Anyhow, school like usual and after I had work. When work finished I headed back to school to study for law and then home for more exciting law study.

School and Sideways hair

Headed to school today like usual except that I had my hair parted with a 70 30 split as it's known here in Japan. So that was the day.

After work I headed home, changed and headed back out. I met up with my friend Rika in Ebisu and we went to Calm Terrace for dinner. It was a pretty cool place with good food. When we finished eating we walked around and then went home.

School and then...

Had school like usual. My group did another presentation today on Coke and Pepsi which went well and then after a bunch of people invited me to go out. I don't normally go out on Friday since work starts early on Saturday, but I planned on last train and I didn't have any bookings at work so I went out. We went to Sukiya for dinner and then went to 82 Ale near school. Around 11:00 someone suggested karaoke so we all headed across the street and sang some songs. By the time it was over I had missed the last train but we were hungry again so we went back to Sukiya for more food. One of my friends lives close to school so we wound up crashing there.
