Work and work

Got up a little earlier today and headed to school to help introduce potential students to Temple and then left for work. After work I met up with some school and work friends for a drink and then caught the last train home.

No work, no school, no visitors

Today feels like the first true day of my vacation because I have absolutely no responsibilities. I headed over to Andrew's place to help him pack up and move. He had a ton of stuff since he had been here for two years and was getting rid of a lot of stuff. I wound up taking his old desk chair and some other stuff for my place. In the evening one of our friends, Ryu came over and helped with the moving process with his van.

Shopping and leaving

This morning we dropped the luggage off at my place and then headed out to Harajuku to check out any cool shirts at Uniqlo UT and then headed to Asakusa to check the Taiko place and shopping area. I'm wearing the Ramen Jiro T-shirt. It's pretty awesome! I got a lot of head nods from people who appreciated the shirt. From there we headed back to my place, got the bags, and then got them on the train back to the Airport.

Kamakura, work, Mori Art Museum, Ramen

I met up with Steve and Yu-Chih in the morning and we headed to Kamakura. When we got there we took the bus to see the big Buddha there and some of the shrines in the area. When my friend visited, the bus in Kamakura became known as the party bus. It's easy to see why. I had to leave a little early so after getting lunch I left them there and went to work. When I finished work we met up with my friend Mason and we all went to Roppongi Hills to check out the Mori Art Museum there and then got Ramen at Ippudo after. I think this was Yu-Chih's favorite food for the entire trip.

Work and hanging out with Takehito

Worked in Ginza today. The office is huge! I finished work around 7:40 and then headed back to Tamachi where I met up with Steve, Yu-Chih, Takehito, and his girlfriend. We went to Bagus Bar for dinner and had some good food.

Work and Korea town

Met up with Takehito in the morning like usual and then met with Steve and Yu-Chih for lunch before going to work. It was cold and rainy today so it kinda sucked, but was ok. After work Steve, Yu-Chih, some friends, and I all headed to Shin-Okubo (Korea Town). We walked around a little bit and then went to a Korean restaurant. The food was good and then we walked through Donkiote, the Japanese equivalent of Wal-Mart. It's pretty much the most unorganized store imaginable and sells everything from school girl costumes for your girlfriend, to car wax, to luxury brand goods.

Getting my brother and his wife

Did some laundry this morning and then headed out to Narita to meet up with my brother and his wife at the airport and get them checked into their hotel. When we got into Tamachi we checked in to the Hotel and they got a room on the top floor facing Tokyo Tower. When we got to the top floor we met a guy that Steve's wife knows from work cause he was there on business and staying there. After they put their bags down we headed out to Tokyo Tower and walked around there and the park there. Then we got Sushi and that was the day.

Work and driving

Headed to work like usual. At night I met up with Mason and we went out driving. There was a Porsche meet at Tatsumi PA so there were a bunch there. We headed to Shibaura PA and got some drinks there out of a vending machine that has cameras inside so you can watch your drink be made. It was pretty cool cause it even had grinders for the coffee beans so that they were freshly ground when you get your coffee. Then we met a guy who had a Panda AE-86. He was pretty chill and talked to us about cars and the scene in Japan. He swapped the engine himself and with his current set up it could rev up to 9,000 RPM's which is pretty cool. He offered to take us on a drive around the C1 and showed up what the car can do.

Work and games

Headed to work in the evening like usual. Some of my friends were at school so after work I met up with them there and we played some games there till it closed and then headed to Andrew's house. I missed my last train so we wound up playing games till 4:30. I love spring break. We looked at some apartments in the Tamachi area which is in Tokyo and it's crazy how much they can cost. This one I took a picture of is 65 square meters (650 square feet) and costs over $500,000. It's nice, but coming from the US, and comparing the price of entire houses there, it seems like a bad deal.

Work

Headed to work today, I was working in Shibuya. It is a nice school with a more modern feel than Tamachi and while I was in Shibuya I saw a white Ferrari Enzo drive by which was awesome. Since I was in Shibuya I got some Burger King for dinner and headed home.

Work and Roppongi Hills

Had work like usual and then I headed to Roppongi to check out the Exhibit that is taking place there. In the Tokyo City view section they had an exhibit of many old classic cars and and some Ferraris. The museum which has a new exhibit now had some pretty interesting art, unfortunately photography is prohibited in the museum. Many of the works used a lot of light in different ways which was pretty cool, but a lot of stuff made me think of a strange dream.

School and bowling

Headed to school like usual. Today we had the last class of the business capstone and had a pizza party at school after to celebrate that we are the first and last class graduating from TUJ with BBA degrees. Both of these pictures were taken after I had eaten my piece of pizza and was on the way to get another piece. After the party ended, we played StarCraft again and then went bowling till last train.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

School work and Cherry Blossoms

School and work like usual. The Cherry Blossoms are blooming around Japan now. There is a Japanese tradition which like a lot of traditions originated in one of the surrounding countries and brought into Japan. Basically it's an excuse for people to get blue tarps, put them down on the ground, and drink beer under the trees while enjoying the weather. I'm gonna try and get some good pics later this week.

Monday, April 6, 2009

Day off

No school or work today. Headed to school and studied for accounting with Steve and then went back home to receive a package in the mail. Studied for accounting a little more and then went to bed.

Work like crazy and StarCraft?

Today I worked in Kawasaki and did 10 lessons straight with no break and then went home. Surprisingly I wasn't tired at all after that. In the evening one of my friends from the US was online and we played some StarCraft. I am so cool!

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Work and hanging out

Headed to Takehito's in the morning like usual and then to work. After I got home I cleaned my room a bit and then met up with Steve and his girlfriend in Roppongi. We hit up the Oak Door bar in the Hyatt there and then went home. On the way home I had to jump in the garbage chute to avoid the fire from the storm troopers. Luckily R2 was able to shut down the garbage compactor before it was too late.

School and StarCraft

School like usual but this week we didn't have the business capstone class, so classes were finished by 1:40. One of the Korean students brought a copy of StarCraft to school so we wound up playing six player games until I had to go home. Needless to say, it was a good day.
StarCraft is a strategy game that came out for PC back in 1998 and is still hugely popular in South Korea even having games televised with commentary. If you ever play online on the Asia server, you will loose because the Koreans are crazy good at the game.

School and work

School and work. After work I met up with some friends and studied for the finance test. As you can see from this picture, my calculator isn't very helpful and I often shake it in frustration.
