The day started off with the Japanese Final, 1 hour for the test and a 5 minute oral test after. After the final was complete Mason and I went to the Ramen joint near school and grabbed some lunch. With no plans for the rest of the day, we let the day plan itself out. We headed to Tamachi to check out the EVO X display at the Mitsu building and it looks pretty nice.
Mason had never been to Odaiba so we headed there and walked across the bridge. The view was great the it wasn't that clear of a day so most of the pictures weren't worth posting. It takes about 15 minutes to walk across the bridge and can be a little crazy with all the traffic driving by and breathing in the exhaust from the cars passing by.
I showed Mason around the main part of Daiba and then we grabbed some food before heading to the Toyota Mega Web which is a collection of three buildings dedicated to Toyota. History Garage which has different exhibits of old cars. The Design Showcase which has a bunch of crazy stuff including some of the new technologies that Toyota is working on such as the trumpet playing Robot. The Largest building is the City Showcase which allows people to check out every Toyota model and test drive them as well.
We headed to the History hall because they had a Initial D exhibit. They change the exhibit every two months or so and this one was new to me. They had a AE-86 from Initial D, other cars from popular Japanese shows, and a tribute to Back to the Future. It was pretty cool to see these cars and really cool to see a 86 that was that clean. After we headed to the City Showcase and test drove the Rumion which is the Scion Xb in the US. I grabbed the CD from my bag and we cranked music while driving around the track and the staff thought it was hilarious.
After that we headed to Mason's and got in the Skyline and headed to Ikebukuro to pick up his girlfriend. On the way to Ikebukuro we found a R33 sedan which raced us between every light. It was pretty fun and we made great time. After picking up Mason's girlfriend we jumped on the C1 and worked on learning the roads and freeways better. Our goal this night was finding Tatsumi which is a pretty popular rest stop for people with tuner cars to hang out on the weekends. We had been there before but weren't totally sure the quickest and easiest way to get there till today. Like many things in Japan it seems pretty complicated at first but after figuring out how it works it's easy to see how well laid out things are and how easy it is to get around. Since it was a weekday there really wasn't anyone at Tatsumi but we did manage to see a really nice S15 and I noticed a cool digital map they have showing construction on the freeways.
